The ThankView Customer Success team receives a lot of questions about how to get the most out of a ThankView subscription. We want to open up your FAQs and answers to the whole community!

This month we’re addressing:

1. How can I combine a phone number and email address into one contact?

We recently hosted a Q & A session on the new contact feature within ThankView which allows partners to house a recipient’s phone number and email address in the same contact.

If you’ve previously sent text campaigns, you will have duplicate contacts in your account and we’d highly recommend merging those contacts.

Here’s a recording of the session (about 20 min.) so you can review or pass on to your team.

If you’d like to start the process of combining contacts, please reach out to support@thankview.com with either of the following:

1) The unique ID/s you’d like to use to combine your contacts or

2) Upload a list of contacts to the “Contacts” tab for us to merge

2. What should I use custom merge fields for?

When it comes to keeping your database clean, custom merge fields can help!

The most frequently used custom merge fields are

  • Address or Zip Code
  • Full Name
  • Child’s Name (primarily for k-12 schools)
  • Spouse First Name
  • Spouse Last Name
  • Society or Club Status
  • Major
  • Scholarship

These merge fields may be helpful to add in your own portal, but you also may have more specific information related to your organization’s donors. If you’re unsure of the best way to use custom merge fields, make sure to reach out to your CS Manager.

3. What are the best practices when it comes to designing new envelopes/landing pages?

If you’re a new ThankView partner or you’re looking to refresh your custom landing page and envelopes, you will receive a design link.

The link will have instructions for what assets our designers will need (e.g. your generic logo or a photo for the landing page) but here are a few tips to help reduce the number of edits back and forths.

Envelope Tips

  1. Envelope Dimensions are 1119px × 733px.

If you’re working with your own internal design team they may want to know the exact dimensions. If not, you can disregard this step. Our team will resize your images as necessary, all we ask is the highest resolution and largest file sizes you have on hand.

2. There are a few different options you can try for your envelope design. You can:

  • Use a logo for the return address stamp
  • Use the city, state of the school in the postmark
  • Use a photo/mascot/image in the stamp area
  • Some schools will add a contrasting bar (or several bars) of color at the bottom fo the front of the envelopes
  • On the back schools will add a secondary logo (or mascot image) on the back flap
  • Some partners will customize the inside liner with a fun pattern, solid color, photo etc.

Landing Page Tips

  1. Again, starting with the specific dimensions if your marketing team is curious:
  • LP Dimensions are 2048px x 1536px
  • The top left logo bounding box is 200px x 90px

Now the same rule applies for landing pages as envelopes. We do not need these specific dimensions. Our amazing design team will resize as needed, just send over the highest resolution photos that you have.

2. Good things to keep in mind when picking the photos you’d like to see as landing page mockups:

  • Is the picture center-focused? If so, it may not be the best fit. We can shift and resize to a certain extent, but if it’s like the picture below, the photo won’t work.
  • While most of our clients use photos for their landing page options, it is possible to use a step and repeat of your logo, a gradient color fade, or a logo stamp in the bottom right-hand corner. Feel free to leave notes in your form, if you’d like to a few different versions of the landing page mockups.
