eagles toppling mountain goats

I came up on
an eagle on a sandbar
looking over his shoulder
bloody beak dripping
from the dead cormorant
he lost the staring contest
and flew away
leaving me to wonder
about the falling man
on the newspaper
or was it a magazine
cover
fear is a lesson she taught me well
bloody anus of a child
a child a child a child
with the dinosaur dream
again again again until
I never figured it out
except for maybe
the neanderthals
outside the window
in the trees in
Sitting Wind Removing Pose
watching
me dream
have you seen the videos
eagles toppling goats
from the ledge of
the empire state building
in what state was that, anyway
for the record
mesmerizing wasn’t the push
wasn’t the eating of scapegoat
but the long slow long slow
falling falling falling
like in the dream
the long slow long slow
waking waking waking up
the calculation
of it all
topples the mind
