COVID-19 not as bad as the panic caused by world leaders.

Power structures of the Western world have proven unable to take on responsibility.

Note — I will refrain from using the name “corona” in this article to serve the higher good and help reduce panic, but also because I am sick of it.

First ignorance, then widespread panic. The pattern in which the little virus was able to take control of our world is perhaps more worrying than its death rate. Leaders of the Western world with Donald Trump at the helm may have gotten it wrong:

  • December-January — complete ignorance of the deteriorating situation in China. It’s their problem.
  • February — the idea that the COVID-19 could get to the rest of the world begins to spread.
  • 24 February — stock markets around the globe plunged amid sudden realization that the virus has indeed spread to West — Italy emerged at the centre of the coronavirus crisis in Europe, reporting its first deaths.
  • March — widespread panic.

Between February and March, the White House replaces its ‘everything is fine’ rhetoric with the state of emergency. In Europe, authorities begin measures that are unparalleled to anything we’ve ever seen except for war.
