The Trace Expert City, Maradana was all the rave with pop culture and comic artists from all over the island as they took part in Lanka Comiccon for the 4th year.
Your Rs. 200 entrance ticket gave you access to all the panel discussions, cosplaying by enthusiasts, comic and action figure seller, musicians making it THE events to meeting likeminded geeks in the island. The events also featured an adult focused bouncy slide which adults — young at heart to in all excitement!
The event spread over 2 days saw about 100+ cosplayinig displaying their creativity, posing for pictures, reenacting movie/ cartoon scenes which was covered by many up and coming photographer and videographers and vloggers.
As droves of pop culture enthusiasts, retailers, artists, musicians and cosplayers step through the doors of the ‘Trace Expert City’ in anticipation of diverse comic and geek to-dos and coveted merchandise, the bustling 2-day convention brims with riveting discoveries exclusively designed for its 2018 edition. Earning itself a name of prestige and mystique with its penchant for entertaining varying fandoms and aspects of the comic world, the event will see the island’s geek community gather under one roof, springing life into what is traditionally fiction.
It was also a platform to meet people of similar tastes to exchange ideas, pop trivia and make plans for future cosplay and movie premiers which was seen at the launch of the Avengers — Infinity War and Batman Vs Superman movie premieres took place at the Majestic City and Liberty Plaza theatres. Many enthusiasts participated with their custom t-shirts and clothing, making it for all to embrace this celebration of pop/movie and anime culture that has begun to grow since the release of the hit Ironman movie released in 2008.

The event also saw the launch of home grown animated movie — Gajaman and comic book franchise Lion Borne, show casing the world Sri Lanka very much for this developing platform of new storytelling companies with new world and communities.

The video game development community also made their presence felt with existing fan bases for Doom, Halo, Call of Duty for Sony Playstation, Microsoft XBOX, Nintendo Switch among the main ones present.
