Today I've been looking at the freedom that Christ offers us and how we can live lives that are like Christ, so we can experience the true freedom that Christ has given us.

It is for freedom that Christ has set us free. Stand firm, then, and do not let yourselves be burdened again by a yoke of slavery. (Galatians 5:1 NIV)

We have freedom In Christ when we stand firm with Him and not conform to the pattern of this world. We have free will and a choice to do Godly things that show love and encouragement or sinful things which bring destruction.

You, my brothers and sisters, were called to be free. But do not use your freedom to indulge the flesh; rather, serve one another humbly in love. For the entire law is fulfilled in keeping this one command: “Love your neighbour as yourself.” (Galatians 5:13, 14 NIV)

We are called to live a Christ like life and to love others as God loves us; we are to serve one another in love, in everything we do.

God gave us His Holy Spirit and whoever has the Spirit of The Lord has freedom. Jesus died on the cross so we could be set free.

In him and through faith in him we may approach God with freedom and confidence. (Ephesians 3:12 NIV)

Because Jesus died on the cross, to set us free from sin we are able to have a personal relationship with God. Through prayer we can converse with Him confidently in freedom and release whatever is on our minds to him.

“The Spirit of the Lord is on me, because he has anointed me to proclaim good news to the poor. He has sent me to proclaim freedom for the prisoners and recovery of sight for the blind, to set the oppressed free, to proclaim the year of the Lord’s favour.” (Luke 4:18, 19 NIV)

God gave us free will, why? To be free and not to be slaves to this world. God loves us and wants the best for us, always and forever. Because we have been set free by Christ’s death on the cross we are anointed to share the Good News of the gospel to all.

God releases His freedom over those who choose to accept Him as their Saviour.
