Since this came up pretty strongly in Ninja Writer land today, I’m going to address it. I’ve got some thoughts on it anyway and I think they’re worth sharing.

(Disclosure: I don’t know Demetrios. Looking at her publication, it looks like she might know someone who teaches at the college where I got my MFA. Otherwise, I’m not connected to her in anyway that I’m aware of. I’ve just seen this post EVERYWHERE today and it was discussed extensively on the Ninja Writer’s Facebook group.)

It went viral. All of the writer Twittersphere especially is abuzz. People are going a little bit bonkers. Because here’s a white lady (even if she did used to be poor) who was handed an uncommonly large amount of money for her novels and by her own admission, she didn’t handle it well.
