BINGE WATCH

Happy Back to School! Spotify has added Showtime to its $5-a-month college student bundle. You may recall that last September, the music streaming giant rolled out Premium for Students, which combined Spotify and Hulu for just $5. Adding Showtime to that bundle makes it a pretty excellent deal for cash-strapped college students. Showtime’s slate of series includes Golden Globe-winning drama The Affair, Stephen Colbert’s Our Cartoon President, Sacha Baron Cohen’s much-discussed Who Is America?, Lena Waithe’s The Chi, and the oh-so-popular Shameless. Subscribers will also unlock a good amount of movies, documentaries, and even boxing. I’ve never wanted to be a college student again more than I do when this deal comes back into headlines.

BIG BUSINESS

If you’re still using your Yahoo or AOL email account, first, welcome to 2018, and second, beware. Apparently parent company Oath is scanning emails (and employees have potentially personally read them) to better attract advertisers. Oath has reportedly been pitching a service that scans 200 million inboxes to advertisers. Through this service, Oath has gained a pretty in-depth view of buying habits. As you may imagine in the era of privacy scandals, email scanning is less in-vogue with the industry at the moment, so it’s a surprising move from the Verizon-owned Oath. According to Business Insider, Oath’s privacy policy allows for Yahoo employees to personally “review sections of some commercial emails.” Gotcha, Yahoo! I use my Yahoo email as a junk email. You got pranked so hard.
