Supervised machine learning is a approach that uses trained data sets that includes expected answers in form of correct labels.

In supervised machine learning problems it starts with the trained data sets with associated correct labels. For example in learning handwritten alphabets or digits.

In supervised learning we start with a supervised learning problem that takes data of thousands of pictures of handwritten alphabets or digits long with labels containing the correct number each image represents. The supervised learning algorithms then learn itself the relationships between the images and then apply that learn relationship to identify the new images of numbers or alphabets.

To illustrate the how supervised learning works let’s consider the predicting the marks of a student based on the number of hours he studied.

Mathematically,

Y = f(X)+ C
