What if We Become a Type 7 Civilization?

A Type 7 civilization, also known as a “civilization of the galaxy” or “galactic civilization,” is a hypothetical level of technological advancement proposed by Russian astrophysicist Nikolai Kardashev in 1964. It is characterized by the ability to harness the energy of an entire galaxy. However, it is important to note that the concept of a Type 7 civilization is purely speculative and not based on any currently observable evidence. The possibility of humans reaching such a level of technological advancement is uncertain and would depend on a number of factors, including advances in science and technology, political stability, and societal progress.

According to Kardashev, a civilization’s status is determined by the amount of energy it can harness and utilize.

A Type 1 civilization is able to harness and utilize the energy of its home planet. (As we were able to summarise it in the first article in this series. Read below if you’re new to the Societal typing thing).
