A Quote for Thought

A go-to literary podcast of mines is KCRW’s Bookworm, hosted by Michael Silverblatt. Today I listened to Silverblatt’s interview with Helen Macdonald, the author of the bestselling memoir H is for Hawk. Here is a quote from Macdonald:

We’re always inside of what we’re seeing. It’s very hard to see the actual creatures without seeing ourselves first.

I think this merits some thought. I am going to sit on it, and maybe in a future blog post, expound on those thoughts. Or maybe not. We will see.
