Two years ago, A tragedy shook us to our core. Two of my beloved uncles passed away in a car accident, while on their way on the motorway. And the reported cause? That the driver fell asleep, without even knowing it.

When asked about it, he had no idea what had happened the previous night. According to him one second he was driving, the next he was crashing into a large truck.

After doing a little research on the topic, I was surprised to find about the sharp increase in Micro-Sleep associated accidents in the last year, even though it is easily avoidable. The only problem is the lack of awareness.

Hence it the time, we talk about issues like these more.

What is Micro-Sleep?

Micro-sleep is a short, uncontrollable fleeting episode of sleep which can last from about a fraction of a second to full 10 seconds. Hence it is a brief lapse of consciousness, a shift between wakefulness and sleep.
