The First Grave

He had been left behind. Lying next to the body of the man he killed, the Knights passed him by as they marched to their next destination. Eventually the boy stirred. He salvaged what he could from the razed village and dug a grave. After burying the body, he made a small pile of stones and placed a larger stone at their center. On it he carved the words “The Weeper.”

Picking up the black blade, he turned to leave. Unseen as he walked away, a small crack formed in the makeshift tombstone. From it, water started to flow.
