Whether it’s in the way they dress, the way they kiss or the way they brew coffee, the French just have a way of doing things that is both effortless and glamorous. If you’re tired of K-cup coffee and you’re ready for coffee that is a bit more pretentious and lot more tasty, this way to brew is prefect for you.

All you need:

· Hot water

· Coarsely ground coffee

· French Press

1. GET HEATED

Boil water on the stovetop or save some time by heating water in the microwave in a microwave-safe container.

2. MEASURE YOUR GROUNDS

Measure out desired amount of coffee depending on how much early morning motivation you’ll need. Many French Press connoisseurs say the coffee to water ratio should be about 1:10 grams. Or, if you’re more fluent in tablespoons and ounces, you should measure about 2 tablespoons of coffee for each 6 ounces of water.

3. BREW

Remove the lid and filter from the press. Pour coffee grounds into the press and then pour the hot water on top. Stir the grounds and water together with a wooden or plastic spoon. (Metal could potentially chip or break the glass and shatter your pressed coffee dreams).

4. WAIT IT OUT

Place the lid back on top of the press with the filter at the top so that it isn’t touching the coffee. Wait 4 minutes (just enough time to watch a video of dogs doing human things).

5. PRESS

Gently press the plunger down to the bottom. With the coarsely ground coffee, you should feel only a comfortable amount of resistance.

6. ENJOY

Wait no more — really don’t wait any longer because the coffee will continue brewing as it sits in the press. Pour yourself a cup or two, and pair it with a croissant and the perfect amount of confidence to tackle the day the French way.
