Hey you! Yeah, you! Are you feeling like your study session is too silent and boring? Have you tried playing music, but it’s too distracting? Then this blog article is for you! In this Blog article, I will not simply plug my playlist on Spotify, but I will help you find the best music to study with for you specifically. These tips have been accumulated from years of experience and training.

Tech tip #1 — DO NOT LISTEN TO LOFI HIP HOP

When finding songs to listen to while studying, many students tend to lean towards Lo-Fi hip-hop on Youtube. This is a very common mistake. The first reason is that the songs in Lo-Fi hip hop are way too relaxing. Rather than helping you study, they just make you sleepy. The clue is literally in the name “Lo-Fi beats to help you relax and sleep”.

If you really insist on listening to it then here you go.

Tech tip #2 — Do not listen to popular/singable songs.

On the opposite end of the spectrum of sleepy music, there are popular songs that make you want to sing rather than work or study. I would keep away from Spotify’s top 100 as they are awesome for dancing and singing to your favorite artists.

Therefore I Am — Billie Eilish

positions — Ariana Grande

Tech tip #3 — Listen to songs you never heard before.

A counterattack to tip 2 would be tip 3. When you listen to new songs, you can’t sing along to the lyrics as you have never heard them before. Refer to my personal favorites down below for some new songs.

Tech tip #4 — Listen to instrumentals.

A sure proof way to not get distracted is to listen to songs completely without lyrics. I’m not talking about the minus ones of famous songs, nor am I talking about those really sleepy, boring, dramatic instrumentals. I am talking about those bands that don’t have singers and just show off their skills on their respective instruments. Personally, I like listening to bands like Polyphia, Earth7, and Ichikoro.
