On January 28th, we were very excited here at the AAMBC. Why? KaMesha Portress dropped her highly-anticipated memoir.

Girl, You’re Not Broke, You Just Don’t Budget Well is not an ordinary self-help book. It’s a journey through the life of a woman who has turned pain and financial ruin into peace and stability. KaMesha takes the commonly used word, Broke, and flips into six well-thought-out lessons.

B — Balance. Learning to balance life and emotions without getting overwhelmed.
U — Uniqueness. Understand one’s uniqueness because no one else can be you.
D — Discipline & Discernment. If I am disciplined, it will help me with my discernment.
G — Grace. Give yourself Grace because we can’t do it all at one time.
E — Empower. I must first empower myself before I can pour into others.
T — Trust. Trust God with it all. It’s His anyway.

Girl, You’re Not Broke, You Just Don’t Budget Well is a gripping, entertaining, educational look at what it means to own your flaws and reinvent yourself.

In financial ruin and on the verge of losing everything, including her sanity, KaMesha discovers that being broke is not just a term used to define financial status. After a series of tragic events, she soon learns that she is broken in more than just one area of her life. With this lesson, comes the realization that she is emotionally and spiritually bankrupt after encountering each tragedy one by one.

Determined to beat the odds, KaMesha decides to turn her pain and mistakes into a pathway of purpose and meaningful milestones. The phrase being broke takes on a different perspective while the term B.U.D.G.E.T. gets broken down in a way it hasn’t before.

Girl, You Are Not Broke is a story of survival, recovery, and revelation.
