On April 19, veteran entertainment attorney and film producer Lisa Bonner, Esq. celebrated the release of her highly anticipated business book, The LegaliTEAS of Entrepreneurship: The Relentless Pursuit of Excellence and Balance in Starting Your Own Business (BookLogix). The invite-only event was held at Apt 4B, a savvy and eclectic restaurant in the heart of Buckhead, Atlanta. The talkback segment was moderated by Bevy Smith, host of Bevelations on SiriusXM. Notable guests included: actress Lynn Whitfield, NBA Hall of Famer Charles Oakley, celebrity hairstylist Derek J., actor and fashion enthusiast Miss Lawrence, Founder of Omnoire Christina Rice, Creator of the AAMBC Awards and Black Writers Weekend, Tamika Newhouse, celebrity stylist Phillip Bloch among others. Bonner expressed that her first book spawned out of her law practice and her desire to help entrepreneurs, small businesses, start-ups, and gig workers readily access the legalities of starting a business. Lisa touched on the book’s timeliness, especially coming out of the Pandemic and the economic shift that gave way to an increased number of creatives and consultants choosing to start their small businesses and the importance of starting your business correctly and maintaining it properly is key to the financial stability and success of your business. The book’s narrative also shares how to approach entrepreneurial endeavors like a business, but with balance, highlighting the “Importance of Saying No” and discussing that “Even God Rested” in her chapters focused on wellness and balanced, where Bonner shares these jewels in chapters befittingly entitled, Tea Time. Here, Bonner spills the tea on the practical (vs. legal) elements that will guide readers as they launch a successful business and stay sane and balanced in the process.
During the candid talkback with Lisa, Bevy Smith shared that writing a book like becoming an entrepreneur is not easy to do.
