Tamika Newhouse, author, and founder of African-American on the Move Book Club (AAMBC) has always had a passion for storytelling and writing fiction that narrates the African-American experience through the unique lens of the black community. In 2008, Tamika embarked on the mission and vision to create a space for the development of literary-based programs and events to shine a spotlight on African-American books, films, and black creatives responsible for giving a voice to stories relevant to the black community and its culture.

AAMBC hosted Events such as Black Writers Weekend, and CreativeCon providing authors, filmmakers, bloggers, and other black creatives the opportunity to increase their audience and brand recognition through educational and Entertaining forums of panel discussions, workshops, master classes, and book signing activities. In addition to these events, AAMBC hosts its annual AAMBC Literary Awards gala. This celebratory event honors black creatives in book publishing, filmmaking, and other mediums of storytelling and expression within the black community. Since 2008, the AAMBC Literary Awards have honored memorable literary black voices like Nikki Giovanni, Stacey Abrams, Carl Weber, and Kimberly Jones, amongst its vast winners celebrated for their unique contribution to the literary world of black excellence and creativity.

The AAMBC Literary Awards will continue to celebrate and honor this year’s nominees and winners in the 15th annual live show occurring this August in Atlanta. This exciting literary awards event promises to be entertaining and culturally relevant in showcasing newsworthy black creatives, writers, book publishers, influencers, literary activists, and book clubs alike. So come out and have a festive time celebrating those individuals who continue giving voice to the African-American community and its unique culture through black literacy.
