Yahya Abdul-Mateen II to star in untitled Patty Hearst biopic

Coming off the recent release of The Greatest Showman, in which he co-stars, Yahya Abdul-Mateen has been tapped for a lead role in Fox 2000’s upcoming Patty Hearst biopic, directed by James Manigold.

The film is based on the best-selling novel, American Heiress, which follows the true story of the Hearst being kidnapped by the Symbionese Liberation Army in 1974 and brainwashed into becoming a bank robber and a group spokesperson

As reported first by Deadline, he’ll star alongside Elle Fanning (Hearst) as “Cin” the “leader and founder of the SLA movement.”

Mateen also has another huge role coming up, the main villain in DC’s Aquaman, Black Manta.

Manigold, who is directing, wrote American Crime Story: The People vs. O.J. Simpson and directed the box-office success, Logan.
