I’ve seen men die under trains, I’ve seen addicts die behind bathroom doors,

I think I’m in a position to know about toxic masculinity.

I’ve prayed to Jesus on my hands and knees like a Muslim.

For every suicide, for every act of terrorism, some one pushed them,

maybe it was their mother, pushing them out and screaming.

Tonight, we’re going to the Marcoola Farmer’s market, the family, and the Turkish carpet salesman who came to Australia,

and we can’t sweep it under the rug, so how about a hug?

Holiday makers and heart breakers are in the cafe, and men who use to call me their love now call me their mate.

“you’ll never make a living as a poet” but these are the ghosts who haunt the future not made.

If you’re looking for a teacher, if you’re searching for an answer, you’ll find it at night in the million twinkling eyes of the guardian Angels
