The reason why I used to work when I could do it — in the past — is that I had to make money to live. Basically, this is the main reason why most people have jobs. However, with time I came to realize that I did not want just to have a job — but I wanted to do something I loved, and that was not easy for me.

Eventually, I discovered more about myself. I started to do regular meditation in order to find more peace and harmony within — but also because I was questioning the universal mind about many things regarding my life.

So, I did some work in restaurants, but I also cleaned vacancies and offices occasionally. I realized with time that I did not want to spend years working like that. I had a diploma in accounting and I knew that I could find better jobs around the city. Yet, I refused because I’m not the type of person that can stay long periods of time sitting inside an office. I love to move around.

Finally, I came up with the idea to relate more with families and children.

How everything started

I came to the USA in 1986 alone — I was desperate to find myself because I was lost, and I wanted a future in America — as I was running away from Italy because the level of violence in my house was becoming something absolutely unbearable.

In the beginning, I spent months inside an old blue Pinto — but with time and research — I was able to find me jobs at local restaurants and so forth. My life was changing. Then one day, I started to look for work with American families. I became an Au-Pair at first, and I lived happily with several families while I was carrying for the kids and cooking delicious meals for supper.

One day I realized that I could go a step further and because my situation changed and I had a boyfriend — I decided to move in with him for a while and find myself a “live/out” position as a regular nanny. Eventually, because I never gave up searching — I was able to find work this way for some years. As a nanny, they usually need you only for a number of years. When the children grow up, in fact, many things chance also for the family that needs less and less help from the outside. I was always lucky to be treated as part of the family.

Then things got even better because — with experience and great personality — I was able to achieve one of the top nanny positions in California. After many years I realized how much I walked the hard road, and how much I sacrificed with courage in order to make everything always better for my life. So, I became a professional nanny in West Los Angeles, and I started to be called by the agencies to serve celebrities' needs — such as set assistance, some office work, but most of all I was needed to work as a nanny for the children.

I had a great life after that! I was able to attract positions where the family would enjoy having me around — they were feeling my presence almost necessary to keep a certain level of harmony in the house. Sometimes — with certain families — I found myself involved in discussing lightly spiritual subjects, during occasional conversations — for example at the Bel Air Hotel — where I was invited to dinner during a special occasion, or at the park — where one of the parents sometimes would stay for a few minutes with me and the children, before running to an interview preparation or other similar things.

Conclusion

Work is always hard, but when you love what you do and feel passionate about it — miracles happen around the corner — and luck ends up meeting you often where you less expect. This happens because like attracts like. Today I can share this experience with you — and I can guarantee you that the more passion and fun you experience while working for yourself, or for someone, the more you are creating and producing wonderful-positive energy — that appears to be extremely inspiring and contagious to others. In my case, I was attracting situations and people to my life, — where others were thinking almost like me — getting along very well in the environment of working relationships. When this happens the concept of time dissolves at the moment you are able to live with full enthusiasm, intention, passion, and intensity. Whatever you do for a living — try not to find yourself in a corner where you feel bored, counting minutes before you can go home. Make your work interesting — invent something if possible — and use your own creativity to find the element “fun” in it.
