…With some left out

Realising we were wind bound in Livardi, new games were devised to keep ourselves amused, there are four, but this isn’t the madness…

Eating as many different kinds of cakes. The skippers trip to the dentist back in Blighty for a cavity a likely consequence.

Sniffing out a souvlaki and gyros shop. Boat modge was getting tedious.

Visiting the village on the hill. It’s a frickin’ big hill.

Checking the weather forecast for a break in the WIND.

Yes, the wind. The bloody wind. Eventually, we started to see more and more yachts coming in to take shelter. Some had come from the North and East, others had legged it to Serifos from Milos. All looked windswept., some a bit queasy. Very soon the leeward side of the quay became full.

Arrivals by other yachts became a highlight of the day. I’m afraid to say excellent amusement but cannot help it, uncharitable as it may sound you can learn a lot from watching yachts approaching a quay from the windward side, mostly how NOT to do it.

If you’re of a slightly nervous disposition, the owner of a massive and expensive luxury motor yacht, or perhaps a novice charterer to be, you probably won’t want to read these tales of madness….
