Speed Is Everything

In a culture where speed is everything we need to improve not only our communication which is already fast but we need to speed the time it takes to get a product to the customer. For instance it now takes 1–3 seconds to send a text message (I found this out myself through experimentation), we can get a package from Amazon, but the one department that falls behind in the case of speed is the manufacturing industry, but that could be speeding up.

lets look at cars for instance, in recent years it is said a car can be made in under 24 hours for a normal gas powered car, but in reality that just means the assembly. The full manufacturing time takes much longer then that, because most of the parts are pre fabricated. meaning there made in one location shipped to the assembly line bolted together in under 24 hours then shipped off to the customer. But recently I fell into an internet hole and saw a Business Insider article about the Tesla factory and how they were producing cars in under 3 days from scratch (minus the technology and motors of corse). The Tesla factory starts with rolls of steel puts it through their robotic process which produces all the parts then welds it all together to build your car from scratch, and the best part is it all happens in under 3 days. The factory can run 24 hours a day seeing that most of its employees are robots or repairmen, meaning it can keep up with the worlds popular demand. These technologies are pushing us closer to that faster social speed that we get in our packages and text messages. The even better part is that were getting a sustainable electric car that produces no emissions, and the technologies keep advancing pushing them further distances on a faster charge. In my mind Tesla is definitely producing them selves a great piece of the pie when it comes to the auto industry especially when they are promising millions of cars will be able to roll out of their factories each year in the near future. Companies like Tesla are showing us that innovation can create a more advanced, quicker, and sustainable future for the generations to come.
