The Transformation of the Boat

With the move in day looming on May 3rd, we just had a couple of weekends available to get everything ready.

The main challenge at hand was how to make the most of the tiny interior of the boat, so that it would feel less “old boys cigar club” and feel more airy, spacious and modern.

We have started off by throwing out pretty much everything that was inside in order to have a bit more of a blank canvas to work with.

Afterwards, we experimented with a number of different paint combinations until we found one that worked best.

Several weekends of painting and cleaning later, this is what we ended up with in the main cabin:

The Main Cabin

Living Room

Dining Area

The Galley (Kitchen)

  • Photos of the other 2 rooms will come shortly!

Although everything took about 3 times longer than expected and there were enough trips to the Home Depot to qualify for the VIP card, I’d say that the end result was well worth it. The boat is becoming something that we can actually call ours and, by working more on it ourselves, we’re getting a lot more familiar with every aspect of it.

At this point, all is pretty much ready and we’re bringing it over to our new spot in the marina in Charlestown, Boston on May 3rd and moving in :)

More photos to come!
