When that feeling of wasted time comes creeping up, sometimes all we need is a little guidance to get back on track. In this blog, I’ll share with you some tips and tricks to keep you productive and motivated when you feel like you’re wasting time.

Let go of metrics

When it comes to time management, one of the most important things you can do is to let go of metrics.

What do I mean by this?

I mean that you should stop worrying about how much time you’re spending on each task, and instead focus on the quality of your work.

If you’re constantly worrying about how long it’s taking you to complete a task, you’re not going to be able to focus on doing your best work. Instead, you’ll be stressed and likely to make mistakes.

So, instead of worrying about how long something is taking you, just focus on doing your best and completing the task at hand.

Enjoy the process

We all have moments where we feel like we’re wasting time. Maybe we’re scrolling through social media when we should be working, or watching TV when we could be being productive. Whatever the case may be, it’s important to remember that you’re not alone in feeling this way.

There are a few things you can do to get back on track when you feel like you’re wasting time:

  1. Identify why you’re feeling this way.

Are you bored? Anxious? Feeling overwhelmed? Once you identify the root cause of your feelings, it will be easier to find a solution.

2. Make a plan.

If you’re feeling lost, sit down and make a plan for what you want to accomplish. This can help you focus and feel more in control of your time.

3. Take a break.

Sometimes, the best way to get back on track is to take a break. Step away from whatever is making you feel like you’re wasting time and give yourself some space. Go for a walk, read a book, or just take some time to relax. This can help clear your head and allow you to come back refreshed and ready to work.

Do less

There’s nothing wrong with taking a break from time to time. In fact, it can be quite productive. But if you find yourself in a rut, feeling like you’re wasting time, it’s important to get back on track.

Here are a few tips for getting back on track when you feel like you’re wasting time:

1. Do less. That means scaling back your goals and expectations. Doing less can help you focus on what’s really important and eliminate distractions.

2. Simplify your life. When you’re feeling overwhelmed, it can be helpful to simplify your life. That means decluttering your space, both physical and digital, and streamlining your routines. The goal is to make things as easy and effortless as possible so you can focus on what’s truly important.

3. Set boundaries. Another way to simplify your life is to set boundaries with your time and energy. That means saying no to commitments that aren’t aligned with your goals and setting limits on how much time you spend online or watching TV. By setting boundaries, you free up more time and energy for the things that matter most to you.

4. Get organized. When you’re feeling scattered, it can help to get organized. That means creating a system for managing your tasks and responsibilities. Having a plan can help you focus and make better use of your time.

A contingency for messing up

We all have days (or even weeks) where we feel like we’re not accomplishing anything. Maybe we’ve been scrolling through social media for too long, or we keep getting distracted by things that aren’t important. Whatever the reason, it’s easy to feel like you’re wasting time when you’re not productive.

But don’t worry, there’s a contingency for messing up! Here are a few tips to get back on track:

1. Figure out why you’re feeling unproductive in the first place. Are you bored? Stressed? Tired? Once you know the root cause of your lack of productivity, you can address it and start to fix it.

2. Set some goals. It can be helpful to set some specific goals for yourself so that you have something to work towards. Having tangible goals will help motivate you and keep you on track.
