Tough one…definitely has relations with ‘aesthetics’

Ok. First of all. Sorry for the four day delay, I was preparing for a rowing camp and uhh…didn’t plan these posts very well.

Anyways…Today’s word is esthete, which is actually a word! Its regular spelling is aesthete, but I thought the archaic version esthete brings out a better effect for this unique beauty. Maybe it’s the fast ‘es’ which brings out a spicy tone similar to cinnamon, or maybe it looks like the word ‘ether’, or maybe I just need some sleep.

Looking Deeper

esthete comes from the Ancient Greek root of ‘aisthētē’, which means to perceive or to understand. The modern definition of esthete is someone who has a high sensitivity for beauty, specifically relating to areas of art and nature.

As mentioned above, it is also spelt like this: aesthete

As we are talking about the adjective form of aesthetic, we might as well dive into this word too. aesthetic comes from the Ancient Greek root of ‘aisthanomai’, ‘ I feel’.

What beautiful meanings! As I often associate aesthetics with beauty itself, the true definition of this group is ignored. aesthetics is not something tangible, it’s the feeling or the ‘vibe’ the object, person or thing rouses within you.

Using ‘esthete’ in a Sentence

This word can replace many of its adjective counterparts such as ‘sensitive’ or ‘arty’, but be careful. Instead of simply swapping, make sure esthete is properly place

Before: “He is arty”

After: “He is an esthete.”

See how the sentence changes? esthete is a noun, so switching this with an adjective could cause issues if not done correctly.
