Vellichor? What even is this?

Today’s word is an interesting one, because it’s not a word! vellichor is an invented word that hasn’t been around for too long, so this post is going to be shorter than usual.

I came across this queer word from The Dictionary of Obscure Sorrows quite some time ago, and instantly got drawn into it. This word captures the image of a bookstore filled with thousands of old books that you would never have time to read.

This word is used to describe the awe as we enter such a magical place — An annex littered with thoughts left just as they were on the day that they were captured.

There is no offical way to use this word, but I’ll try nonetheless:

“The old bookshop by the beach always fills me with a sense of vellichor.”

Tell me if you would like to see more of these words.

See you.
