Being a part of something great without being able to talk about it and share it with the world is its own kind of prison. It’s just like buying expensive shoes and not being allowed to wear them out of your room. This is how we felt at the African Leadership University.

The ALU community lives in a bubble which boasts of its diversity, the wealth of its pan-African culture, and its intellectual affluence. Waking up to this every morning has been one of our greatest privileges over the past two years. However, a privilege is only worthwhile if it is shared.

We have decided to do this by launching the ALU Feed. Think of it as the all-seeing eye of students at the university who, through high-calibre editorial content, give you a sneak peek into the goings-on at the African Leadership University across all campuses.

If we must use an analogy to better explain what the ALU Feed (also known as ‘the Feed’) is, we’ll say: The Harvard Crimson is to Harvard University as The ALU Feed is to ALU. As imperfect as that analogy is, we believe that it summarises, in a nutshell, what the Feed is poised to become.

The Feed is completely curated by students at the ALU who are passionate about journalism and storytelling through media. However, the creation of content is completely sovereign across campuses. That is, the campus editor, who leads the curation of content at his/her campus, has full autonomy to decide which direction the stories being generated from his/her campus take.

Through the Feed, we plan to give students a platform to join in sharing the ALU experience with one another and to the rest of the world. Internally, we plan to groom a pool of talented writers and editors who will go on to write for prestigious publications such as Forbes Africa, the Huffington Post, Thought Catalog, Ayiba Magazine, etc. But most importantly, we want to create a hub of student-curated content from across all ALU campuses to ensure a synergy of experiences.

Follow us on this journey by, literally, following this publication. Let us partake in the creation of shared experiences, together!
