Movie Review: Alice Through the Looking Glass
Director: James Bobin
Year: 2016
Language: English
Verdict: Average

I did not fully read any of the Alice books. As per my knowledge the story of the book “Through the looking glass” does not resemble the movie.
I am a Tim Burton and Johnny Depp fan and I try to watch whatever new movie comes under their banner, however it was too late for me to know that this is not a Tim Burton movie. I already set-up my expectation too high and this movie already failed to live up to that. However, when I saw the name of the director during the end score of the movie and I was able to find the main reason of my disappointment. If you ever watched any Tim Burton movie, you will know they have his signature cockiness, which gives them their authenticity. This movie lacked that personality.
Let me briefly tell you the story (no spoilers, I promise!): Alice goes back to wonderland, just to find that Hatter is sick and dying. The only way to get him back was to find his family, who were long killed by the Red Queen. Alice now has to travel through time to stop that event.
What follows next although is somewhat enjoyable but lacks salt. There were a hell lot of cliched jokes on ‘time’ (yes, he is a character of this movie) and towards the end it all becomes a bit stretchy.
All and all, an average movie in my opinion.
