Movie Review: Fan

Director: Maneesh Sharma
Year: 2016
Language: Hindi
Verdict: Good

Watched Fan today, to my surprise I liked it. In my whole life I have watched only two of Shah Rukh’s movies in theatre including this one while the other one being Don-2.

This 2 hours 20 mins long movie is from top to toe nail biting. Although, we can always turn cynical and question some of the gaps in the story like the role of the police etc., but I am in a good mood today and to be very truthful I did enjoy the movie.

Till date I have watched some good number of psycho ‘fan’ movies; including ‘Misery’ and ‘The King of Comedy’ and some others I do not remember the names of, however, this movie gave me creeps in the same league as the ‘Bone Collector’.

The story starts with an otherwise normal guy Gurav Chandra who thinks of him as the biggest fan of the Bollywood superstar Aryan Khanna. Gurav a.k.a. Aryan Khanna Junior’s life motto is to meet the Senior at least once in his lifetime. Anyway, the meeting takes place in all the wrong circumstances and the biggest fan turns a page and becomes the biggest enemy of the superstar.

After that it is all about suspense till the end. I would recommend this movie.

PS: I just checked the name of the director, I did like many of his movies. My most favourite being Dum Laga ke Haisha.
