Movie Review: Independence Day Resurgence
Director: Roland Emmerich
Year: 2016
Language: English
Verdict: Bad

Why do they make a sequel without giving it much thought, that is way out of my understanding. This movie felt like having a story-line where 10–15 people sat down one evening and put down their thoughts on post-its and the director sew them together without putting much thought about the whole picture.
I watched Independence Day when I was much younger and the visuals took me away, although I can not say what I would have felt now, but I can say for sure the movie 20 years ago had better visuals than the new one. This time I felt, I was playing a very cheap video game.
As the name suggests, the aliens are back to take revenge aka the molten core of Earth ;) . They have a bigger but not better ship and the US president mistakenly used up all the Earth’s defence mechanism long before the enemy ship even came into the picture.
Now, when I came to know that I made a bad decision by buying the ticket and coming to the theatre, I started to find some consolations in the characters I liked from the previous movie. And the first bummer was that no Will Smith (Lesson no. 1: from now on I have to do some research before going to the theatre). The movie did not build the other characters enough so that one can relate to them, the old and the new characters all were lost in the jumbled up plot. At places the plot did not even make any sense. The humour were predictable and lacked timing and chemistry. The whole movie was all a big blob and I have already forgotten what it was all about.
I will not recommend a watch.
