During our time in Berlin, a chaotic morning of being locked out led to us meeting the friendly owner of a local cafe, Les Papilles.

Located in Neukolln we passed it daily en route to the U-Bahnn, finally deciding to stop for breakfast on the last day. Offering fresh food with a Parisian twist and friendly service, Les Papilles is a hidden gem in a most unexpected area of Berlin.

We knew we needed a hearty breakfast to carry us through our last day in Berlin. Les Papilles was perhaps one of the best cafe choices we made during our time there. The menu was minimal yet high in quality, offering pastries and a choice of either cold or warm breakfast. Upon seeing ‘benny’s eggs’ we couldn’t resist temptation and it didn’t disappoint.

I ordered a warm lemon tea and was surprised by its unique presentation. Not fully knowing what to do with the various utensils given to me, I looked apprehensively at NAine, who was equally as puzzled as I was. Eventually things fell into place, however I’m still uncertain what the function of the little white droplet was (it was solid and didn’t quite dissolve).

All in all, a pleasant morning sitting in the sunshine at Les Papilles. If you ever find yourself roaming the streets of Neukolln, make sure to stop by, you won’t regret it.
