Authorities resumed their search Tuesday morning for Wouter Van Lier, a 42-year-old San Francisco man last seen about 1 a.m. Monday morning on his boat, which was moored at Ayala Cove on Angel Island. His wife reported him missing about 6 a.m. Monday, according to news reports. KTVU reported that his wife believed he had gone for a hike, but then he never returned.

The Marin County Sheriff’s Office first tweeted about the search about 2 p.m. Monday, with the following details released at 6:15 and 6:20 p.m.:

ABC-TV’s Cornell Barnard tweeted these images yesterday evening of authorities and Search & Rescue volunteers leaving at the Tiburon ferry landing and leaving for Angel Island to conduct the search.

Search teams called off their efforts about 10 p.m. Monday night, but resumed the search this morning. KTVU’s Brian Flores issued this tweet this morning, shortly before 8 a.m.:

Van Lier, described as a 6-foot-tall, 190-pound white male with blue eyes and blond hair, is a management consultant based in San Francisco. The Associated Press is reporting that he leased the boat for the Labor Day weekend with his wife and several friends and that foul play is not suspected.

Anyone with potential information for the searchers can call the Tiburon Police Department at 415–789–2800.
