The Object — Objective Fit and Opportunity Discovery

--

A Model of the Anticipatory Activity System (AAS) Framework

This diagram presents a conceptual model that maps the dynamic relationship between objects (green circles) and objectives (pink circles) across a temporal axis, from Present to Future. It illustrates how initial states evolve into strategic configurations through a process of discovery and fit.

On the left side (Present), we see an Initial Object (green), which evolves into multiple Evolved Objects. On the right side (Future), an Initial Objective branches into a range of Possible Objectives.

At a critical point in this journey, one evolved object is selected as a Strategic Object, and one possible objective becomes a Strategic Objective. Their alignment forms a meaningful Object–Objective Fit, illustrated in the central box of the diagram.

But how do we identify and match these strategic components?

It depends on a process of Opportunity Discovery between the coupling of evolved objects and possible objectives. In some cases, an evolved object inspires the creation of a new objective or project. In others, a possible objective finds its tools or methods among the evolved objects. Sometimes, a compelling match between the two sparks the emergence of a meaningful new strategic project.
