During the second world war, my dad’s best friend (they had known each other since before forever) and his wife adopted a Finnish “war child” (saved from a country at war with Russia). Her name was Ritva. Ritva reached her teens a handful of years before I did, and as teens do, and as I later did, she fell in love with music and in the late 1950s began to collect vinyl singles records.
