Distractions
Recently, I have been studying a lot more after creating my goal setting pyramid. So far I have been sticking to my plan to study at least two hours a day, but what I have been noticing is that I get distracted easily when studying. So I began to research ways to sharpen my focus; I ended up coming across another blog called “Productivity Protips: How To Accomplish More Throughout Your Day” in which Daniel Doan the author talks about ways to increase your productivity and eliminate dis tractors.
According to Doan “Sometimes the best solution is to simply ignore some things. “Ignore” is a rather nasty word, but if you don’t learn to slow down the effects of distractions on your work, your important tasks won’t be receiving the attention that they deserve”
In other words you should dispose of any distractions such as your cellphone or TV and narrow down your daily focus to only a few goals at a time and get those accomplished. Once you have finished your daily goals you can then resume to checking your notifications and texts.
Doan also stresses the importance of not multitasking. He explains when we multitask we often end up not finishing any tasks because of our lack of focus. I can relate to this because often when I am studying during testing weeks I tend to study multiple classes at once; But I find that when I just focus on studying one class at a time I end up doing much better.
Distractions can really ruin your productivity and keep you from achieving your goals. Nevertheless, with a little self control and introspection we can easily stop distractions from impeding our dreams.
