Some Interesting WordPress Plugins for Creatives and Storytellers — part one

This is going to be a fairly short post, but I wanted to share some interesting WordPress plugins I’ve come across that might be useful to artists, designers and content creators in general. If you like posts like these let me know and I’ll write more. I have a lot of WordPress experience and tips I could share.

I’ve been using WordPress since 2006 and I used to code, design and maintain websites for local clients. I even got into making my own client area WordPress theme using specialized plugins and custom code at one point. I gave it all up several years ago to focus on my art and Illustration development. That being said I still use WordPress for my own websites and I still think it is an amazing open source resource.

Disclaimer- Some of the plugins in this post are completely free and some are free with premium versions. I’m not being sponsored or paid to talk about or link to these plugins.

Wp-Monalisa

This plugin is for making your own custom emoticons for your blog. My sister uses this one on Rocketworm.com.

Audio Story Images

You can add audio to your images with this plugin. I’ve always had this in the back of my mind as something cool to do, but as yet had no use for it.

Draw Attention

This plugin helps you create interactive image maps in WordPress. When you realise how difficult it is to do this manually (which I do) this plugin is a pretty awesome idea.

Interactive Content — H5P

This is an amazing plugin which I am surprised more people don’t know about. You can create all sorts of HTML 5 interactive content types with this plugin. It even has a module for creating interactive 360 panoramic tours as well as polls, quizzes, charts, drag and drop games, course presentations, timelines and interactive video to name a few features.

That’s it for now. Hope it was interesting.
