The Kingdom of Denmark, (or simply the country of Denmark), is a unique sovereignty which consisting of 3 separate territories united by the Constitutional Act, which applies to the entire territory:
1) metropolitan Denmark — the kingdom’s territory in continental Europe and sometimes called “Denmark proper” (Danish: egentlige Danmark)
two autonomous (but not sovereign) regions:
2) Faroe Islands in the North Atlantic and
3) Greenland in North America. The relationship between the three parts of the Kingdom is known as Rigsfællesskabet (The unity of the Realm).
