5 Reasons Why Saying ‘Thank You’ Is So Important for Everyone
“Silent gratitude isn’t much use to anyone.” — G.B Stern
Once, I went to visit my friend and for his own reason, he was going to be late for two hours. So I went to one of the book shops nearby and started reading books. I easily passed two hours reading books and discovering new books. But I was not there to buy any book and I hadn’t carried any money either.
And when I was about to leave, I was feeling difficult because I was in a book shop for more than two hours reading and taking every book out of the bookshelf that I was not going to buy.
So, with a little shy and shrinking face, I was trying to get through the door. But the madam on the front said, “Thank You for Your Visit.”
When she said so, it hit me hard. For two hours, I was just there turning the pages of the books. I couldn’t understand why she said so. When she said so sweetly, at least you came to visit our shop, I was so influenced by her attitude of gratitude (both to the buyers and non-buyers).
I met with my friend and returned back that day. The next time when I had to buy a book, I went to the same book shop because her Thank You had influenced me so much.
The distance between my residence and that shop was 34KMs. At that time, I didn’t buy any books from that shop but the next time I went to that shop even though I could find the book shops near my residence.
Why You Should Say Thank You More Often
We say thank you for gifts, special favors, and assistance in times of need. But it’s not only the big things where thank you matters.
We act as if ‘thank you’ should be reserved for some special occasions.
How often do you say thank you to other people? Do you say thank you to only those you love, only those you wish to impress or judge to be important? Or you sprinkle your daily interactions with these two powerful words?
Here are the five reasons you should say thank you more often.
