You’ve joined the Medium Partner Program (MPP). You’ve paid for a Medium membership. You’ve poured blood, sweat, and tears into an article you know will be your claim to fame. You’re nervous, but you want to get it out there to the masses.

So, you hit publish.

And then…

Nothing. Crickets.

Other than a congratulatory comment from your mom, no one reads your work. The clapping icon sits there, untouched, mocking you.

When Wednesday rolls around, you check your MPP dashboard and discover you’ve earned pennies for your hard work. What the hell is the point of this site? you fume. I’m taking my work elsewhere!

But, wait! Before you go, let me share some hard-earned wisdom: Medium only works for you if you’re willing to work for it.

This platform isn’t like traditional print or online publications. Think of it more like self-publishing in the literary world — it will pay off, but only if you’re willing to invest significant time into marketing and self-promotion.
