An Open Letter to Myself About Sobriety

I’m about to reach five months of sobriety. I wanted to call this something clickbaity like “5 Lessons from 5 Months of Sobriety,” but I thought that would minimize how personal this is going to be.

That’s not a lot of time, but it’s also not my first attempt.

I’ll phrase this as carefully as I can:

I gave up drinking because I had to.
