A lot of us feel obliged to stay up to date with current events, but these days it feels like it gets harder and harder to read the news. Although it’s easier than ever for us to find the news, it’s hard to receive mentally. It can be emotionally draining to see all the trauma and devastation in the world.

Empath’s might have to turn it off altogether, choosing to ignore the bad in the world and focus on the good.

I personally don’t allow myself to receive any kind of news updates in the morning or while I’m at work because I know they’re likely to upset me. If I click on that phone notification about the border crisis or new abortion law then I won’t be in a good place for the rest of the day.

There’s a lot of evil in the world because people are easily corruptible. Throw them some money and power at them, mixed it in with little insecurity, and you have a president that we still can’t seem to believe got elected.

Is this because there is evil inside all of us? Are humans inherently bad? Or is there goodness in everybody, even the evildoers?

If you look at what’s deep inside of us, removing anything we’ve been taught about being good citizens of the world, are we naturally bad?
