Five Lessons I learnt from setting up my first Raspberry Pi

#1 — Perseverance can solve anything

Admittedly, my experience in the past with Linux is limited, and my experience with Raspberry Pi’s are even more limited. However, even with my lack of knowledge, I still managed to complete what I wanted to with the Raspberry Pi by persevering.

#2 — Time flies when you’re in The Flow

‘The Flow’ is a state in which a person performing an activity is fully immersed in a feeling of energised focus, full involvement, and enjoyment in the process of the activity.

#3 — Challenging side projects are catalysts

I mentioned before how important The Flow is. Well, to enter The Flow we need to be challenged by what we are facing. In my case, having limited knowledge and experience with Raspberry Pi’s provided me with the perfect challenge.

#4 — Impressive things don’t demand attention

Raspberry Pi’s are tiny, they’re advertised as being the size of a credit card. It’s incredible how they managed to make a computer that small and yet for its size, so powerful. But, yet on the outside, if you didn’t know what it was, you wouldn’t give it a second thought.

#5 — Once you know the basics, anything is possible

I had limited knowledge and experience before setting up my first Raspberry Pi. But, now I know what to do: I can control the Pi via commands, I can set up servers, mount drives, update and install applications and, more. From these basics, I can go on build more impressive things using the basics I learnt.

Conclusion

These lessons are all conclusions I came to after setting up my first Raspberry Pi, but that doesn’t mean that’s what you need to. However, if you are interested in purchasing a Raspberry Pi then check out the link below.
