I’m glad everyone enjoyed my last post. It got over 1k views (as of today). It’s probably not a lot to most people, but my last two posts got around 45 views. Hence, that explains my gratitude to everyone who read my post. And if you haven’t read it, clicked here. I mean, there’s no better promoter than yourself, right?

Thank you!

And, I am not solely focusing on the numbers. I know 40 views can have a greater impact than 1k views at a micro-level. However, I do love your feedback. Moreover, I’m glad many of you found the advice helpful.

I want to continue interacting with you guys/gals. I’m young, 21, and have much to learn. Hence, I try to absorb information from anywhere and anyone. Much of this information derives from books, textbooks, podcasts, and most important, people.

I don’t want to detail my career aspirations. But I’ll explain it one sentence as it ties up with the main concept of this post. It’s to become a Data Scientist. Thus, I continuously work on projects in Python and R. And conceptually learn statistical concepts, theoretical frameworks, and business/economic ideas. But that’s beside the point.

The point I’m trying to make is that we should all strive to learn. Not trying to be cliche but I do think life is more fun when we are working on our craft and learning from others.

It’s difficult. I know.

After all, I’m 21. I love checking Instagram to see if that girl answered back my DMs. Or clicking on click-bait articles on Twitter or Facebook. But these things don’t carry any real value. Well, maybe that girl if she answers back. No, but in all seriousness, these things will be forgotten or changed by next week. And that’s social media, right? It’s a bunch of click-bait articles and videos that sole purpose is get your attention. It’s marketing. And they have detailed information on our behavior. They know that Sally likes cooking. They also know that Richard loves dogs.

So where am I going with this?

I love books. Oh, anything but books. Relax. I hated reading books. Reading a book was synonymous with sleep. However, things changed. Drums rolls, please. In my first semester in college, a professor recommended: “The Brain That Changes Itself”. I don’t recall what I learn from the book, but I remember being intrigued by the storytelling behind a non-fiction book.

But in this social media driven era, books are often pushed aside. We are seeking for fast and new information. But this discourages learning from well-established ideas.

Thus, this leads me to my new objective. I think it’ll be fun to write on books in a Medium-style. No, not a book summary with introduction, body, and conclusion. But written in a style that’s informative and entertaining.

I think it’ll serve us a great deal.

  1. It’ll help you learn the main concept of books and hopefully, it’ll persuade you to read. Hopefully.
  2. And for selfish needs. I’ll use this as a database where I store key concepts from books. You can also check my Instagram. I upload of the books that I’m reading and short ideas from my readings. Occasionally, I write currently short formal summaries on books.

I’ll continue to write on ideas and productivity and self-growth. I’ll also write about my journey in Data Science. But this will be a good way to upload every week. I’ll be uploading this informal book summary every Sunday. Thus, I hope you guys will enjoy the post I’ll be writing on Sunday (it’ll be on one of the biggest gang members in L.A.).

WANT MORE…

If so, I suggest following my Instagram page. I post summaries and thoughts on a book that I have and am currently reading.
