Hate Mondays and Crave Fridays
The Bane of our Existence
What do you hate the most — Monday Mornings or Friday Evenings? This will spell all the difference. Much like there are two men in this world — those who wash their hands before they pee and those who do it after.
I can’t wait for Friday 5 PM.
That was the story of my working life. When you’re an employee, you can’t wait to get your me-time. 5 PM is where me-centric activities happen. This is where you start working on your side hustle or craft.
Why are we trading five days of unsatisfaction for two days of happiness? We have it all backward. It’s supposed to be the other way around, right?
Start hating Fridays. Crave for Mondays.
My 180 arrived when we migrated to Bali last year. I no longer had a steady paying job and I had to fend for myself. It was a meritocracy based life — if I don’t hustle, I don’t get paid. The more hours I put in, the more output I get.
If I slack off, I’ll get nothing. I gained ownership of what it is I was doing.
Now I understand why my father would spend so much time with his business. He’s in love. He has spent more time with his company than with his family. To his credit, I never felt like he didn’t spend time with us — it was even the opposite.
For the first time in my life, I was craving to wake up by 4:30 AM. I want to start working before the sun rises and I want to put in all the hours I can give. Sunday is the start of my workweek and my clock doesn’t stop at 5 PM.
I forego watching videos. I rarely meet up with people who aren’t aligned with what it is I’m trying to achieve.
This stems from a desire to become financially independent. I love working but I don’t like to work for the sake of making money.
I want to do meaningful work but I don’t want to get stressed about paying next month’s bills. I want to secure my family and have the money to retire.
Start thinking like an entrepreneur. You are a businessman so act like one. You have the power to control your destiny. You are capable of becoming financially independent.
If thousands of kids on YouTube can do it, I bet you can do it too. Put in the time and effort to figure it out.
There are no excuses.
See you on the other side, my friend.
