“It is the principle through which you can accomplish in one year, more than you could accomplish without it in a lifetime, if you depended entirely on your own efforts for success.” — Napoleon Hill

When I first came in contact with the concept of self-improvement, I relentlessly pursued it as a means of healing myself.

I was in a dark place, and in desperate need for something that could pull me out of it; valuable information.

I stumbled upon communities, concepts and ideas, all with self-improvement in mind, and it was precisely what I needed at the time.

I needed self-improvement.

Skip ahead to the present moment, way past the point of healing, and the notion of self-improvement is still close to my heart.

However, I’ve come to understand that something more is needed to continue improving:

People.

The Power Of Together

“No two minds ever come together without thereby creating a third, invisible intangible force, which may be likened to a third mind.” — Napoleon Hill

1 + 1 > 2

It’s synergy.

When I think of self-improvement today, I think of how I could improve so that everyone around me gets to improve as well.

And, for the sake of reciprocity, I hope to inspire the people around me to do the same as well.

This way, new hights of improvement can be reached.

“The biggest room in the world is the room for improvement.” — Helmut Schmidt

Each person should seek to improve themselves. And at the same time, they should seek to improve the relationship, so that the relationship itself can bear even more fruits.

Here, the old adage ‘Two heads are better than one’, rings true.

Because when two (or more) people come together — with a common goal of improving — there’s virtually endless possibilities.

  • There’s new ideas, different perspectives, and massive support.
  • There’s transformation, inspiration and innovation.
  • There’s care, courage, and accountability.

Conclusion

“If you have the opportunity to do amazing things in your life, I strongly encourage you to invite someone to join you.” — Simon Sinek

Self-improvement is awesome. But if you want to get to the next level, finding someone to improve with, is a lot more effective.

One plus one will always be more.

It’s a formula for success.
