The People You Spend Time With Matter.

Here’s Why

This is an easy exercise I usually do when I speak at schools or mentor the younger generation.

Take out a piece of paper and list the top 10 most successful people on the planet in your eyes. Could be Warren Buffet or Kobe Bryant… Whatever you determine success is.

Now imagine those 10 people being the only 10 people you spoke to every single day. That would be pretty cool right? Where do you think you’d be at in life? Do you think you’d be more successful? Or do you believe you’d be exactly where you are right now?

That’s a pretty easy answer right? Of course with being able to pick up the phone and talk to someone you consider more successful than Billions of other people is pretty valuable right?

Now take that same piece of paper and flip it over. Write down 10 people you talk to the most often right now.

How many of them in your eyes are successful? 3? maybe 4? maybe 0? maybe all 10. But I can safely assume if you’re reading this article that not everyone in your social circle is doing the things that you wish you were doing… but in fact those people in your social circle are wishing right along side you.

I’m not saying cut loose all your friends by any means. I’m just wanting to give you the idea of surrounding yourself with successful people because it will encourage you to be successful. It will be a guiding force. If you’re the smartest person in the room you need to find another room.

Show me your friends and I’ll show you your future — Unknown
