Reclaiming My Life:
Daily Task
In the ancient Greek language the verb tense has an incredible impact on the sentence structure and meaning. The present tense verb indicates that the action is ongoing. Okay, I’m no Greek scholar, and I’m not going to bore you with all of this acidamia. If you are more interested in all of that, I know a few guys who would love to speak with you about it. My point in all of this was that reclaiming your life isn’t just a one time event, it’s an ongoing grind.
Over the past few weeks I’ve struggled with some of the same things I’ve been struggling with after I made the decision to reclaim my life. Night after night I would replay the days events and kick myself for falling back into my old patterns.
Why am I struggling here again?
After all, I claimed freedom from these areas and made some moves that would supposably fix some of the issues I’ve struggled with. I changed careers. I added a fitness program. I started having one on one time with my wife and children. Why, then, is my life going right back into the pit of depression it was in before?
I thought I was free.
Ongoing Action
Reclaiming your life isn’t a one time event. You don’t just make a decision to reclaim your life and then it’s done. Reclaiming your life means that you are dedicated to taking back the life you were designed to have instead of settling for the life you’ve allowed others to dictate.
One of the biggest steps to reclaiming your life is devoting yourself to the constant battle. There are things out there fighting for your life. Distractions. Little distractions that have claimed your life without you even knowing. To reclaim your life you have to be willing to take action each day. Every time you wake up, you have to remember that you are taking control of that which you have already relinquished control to another. Control won’t be regained without a fight, and that fight must take place each and every day.
Reclaiming your life is an ongoing action, don’t be fooled into thinking you can do it with just one attempt. Keep fighting. Keep moving. Keep regaining control one day at a time.
