Success = Habit + Application
Success Sundays
Being a University student, I experience a viral enthusiasm among students. It's the enthusiasm for success. What does that really mean? I’m sure 90 percent of them don’t know.
Success, for a lot of us, means money, lifestyle, and fame but I believe that there’s a lot more to it than just recognition. In this article, I aim to define the term ‘success’ and simultaneously, add value to those who believe that they are set out to be successful.
A Delusion?
A lot of us are caught up in a delusion created by our own minds. In this delusion, we foresee ourselves sailing through life without having any motivation to actually work.
This type of thinking is delusional because success is nothing without hard work. As a matter of fact, hard work should be a synonym for success. It leads to winning. Success, for me, means hours and hours of work with no intention of reaping rewards. At the end of the day, it’s about having fun with what you do and feeling proud about yourselves.
Today’s youth should really focus on replacing that delusional thinking with an actual work ethic in order to turn their dreams into a reality.
A Discipline
The work needed for success is a product of discipline. I believe that if I can’t discipline myself, I can’t possibly achieve any of my goals and objectives. A routine or a habit streamlines our life by creating a system and by tracking our productivity.
Therefore, it is necessary for you to create a habit. You can read my blog “The Power of a Habit” to gain some valuable insights regarding the result of an effective habit.
I’ll also share a couple of books that have helped to realize the importance of having discipline in life. These include:
An Application
A couple of years ago, I attended a seminar by Jordan Belfort, where he spoke about mastering the art of selling. Through Jordan’s impressive way of teaching, I learned the lesson that,
“Ideas without application are just thoughts without purpose.”
It was at that seminar that I decided to create an effective work ethic by applying my ideas to my work on a regular basis. The same advice applies to anyone, who carries the desire to achieve something special.
As the amazing Gary Vaynerchuk says that “something special requires hustling.” The definition of success then becomes:
Success = Habit + Application
I hope that this article added some value to your life. This blog is the very first of my ‘Success Sundays’ series, where I’ll highlight the importance of hustling during the weekends.
Also, I’d love to hear your views regarding success and would encourage you to share them in the responses below.
Thanks!
