Its funny how people underestimate the beauty of the BPO industry.

Most of people tend to under-value the BPO Industry and its employees, apparently, they are blinded by the notion that “If you’re a Call Center agent, then you probably didn’t finish college”. But unknown to many, this industry is the best when it comes to growth, opportunities are endless, degree holder or not, one can become the person that he/she wants to be, or at least, find out what they want to be, if they strive for it. But seemingly, the reputation of it being a night job has made it one of the most unappreciated jobs ever.

What most people don’t understand is that, we, BPO associates sacrifice more than a lot compared to other jobs, and I’m not saying it in a way that there’s an easy job at all, but things like missing the pleasure of sleeping at night, working on a holiday, and braving whatever storm just to make it to work and satisfy our clients makes it one of the most challenging jobs of all.

However, with all that being said, it seems that the respect that we get from people is at the least amount you can imagine, if you scour the social media, you will often see people disgustingly shrug off the possibility of working in the industry, mainly because of pride, and to see people do that shows how ignorant they are, one can always say that being a call center agent is a cheap job, but the requirement to be one is not a joke that even a degree-holder can easily be disqualified if they fail to meet the standards.

We are often treated as less educated, that we are some college dropouts that has no other option but to work in the BPO industry, that our job is just a piece of cake, not knowing that it is an everyday challenge to talk and pacify an angry client, and most of all maintain a good score for the business itself to survive.

But what they don’t realize is that, the purpose of us working is all the same, to get what we want, need, and succeed.

And like what I have written in my previous article (click to read) “Do what you love the most and earn from doing things that you’re best at! (Passion vs. Skills)” , we might not like what we’re doing; staying awake in the middle of the night, or braving some storm just to get to work, or even talking to angry people, it is where we are good at, and when you are good at something, you start to love it, and when you have learned to love it, you can finally say and brag that “THIS IS THE JOB WHO MADE ME WHO I AM.”
