The Power of Self-Education
“Formal education will make you a living; self-education will make you a fortune.”
The quote above is from prolific entrepreneur Jim Rohn. He could not have been more right.
In a world where technology is so prevalent, we have the ability to learn as no humans have done before. We have access to mass amounts of information on endless topics all because of one crazy invention.
Google.
Back before I was even born, my parents would have to go to the library to find answers to their questions. That, or seek out someone who knew the answer. Today, we just type our questions into a search engine and voila, there it is.
Being able to access billions of webpages, videos, dictionaries, books, podcasts, lectures, etc. all at the click of a button has allowed us to increase the diversity in which we learn.
There is no room for excuses to say “I don’t know, they don’t teach us that in school.” I think we all agree there should be high school classes on budgeting, loans, interest, buying a house/car, building relationships, career searches, and more. For some reason, we learn quantum physics but not how to apply for a car loan.
